Canine Tasting Menu

Dogs have a keen sense of smell, but their sense of taste less developed than humans. This has not stopped dog owners from showering their pets with an array of treats that will tempt even the most discerning gourmand. Our anthropomorphic tendencies have led to the creation of a wide range of dog foods. Here are some of my favorites - a Canine Tasting Menu.

Power Breakfast

Pawsitively Gourmet Doughnuts are chicken flavored doughnuts dipped in a velvety yogurt or carob glaze. They come in a variety of flavors.

RedBarn Roofle Waffles are “delicious smelling rawhide” waffles with maple syrup baked right in. The company claims they smell good enough for humans to eat.

Dog House Chicken Flavored Bagels use human grade ingredients. They’re baked fresh daily.

A Healthy Lunch

Pegetables Celery Flavored Dog Treats contain real celery. The manufacturer claims they prevent urinary tract infections and benefit a dog’s heart.

EVO No Grain Dog Treats - for the dog on a low carb diet - are billed as the first dog treats made with no grain. The biscuits are high in protein and low in carbs. No empty calories here!

Newman’s Own Organic Cheese Treats are made with nothing but natural, wholesome ingredients like chicken, barley, carrots, apples, and flax seed. No wheat, corn or soy products. They come in “adorable” heart shapes.

Afternoon Snack

Woofy-Pop is a microwaveable popcorn snack for dogs. Never before has there been popcorn with flavors like chicken and bacon.

K9 Granola Factory’s Mini Scones come in apple cinnamon or pumpkin and sunflower varieties, all slathered with a healthy serving of yogurt.

Dinner

Nathan’s Famous, the same company known for their hot dogs, now offers cheese flavored hot dog treats. They’re the first and only “human” beef brand to enter the market as a pet food manufacturer.

Top your hot dogs with Iams Savory Sauce. Choose from Roasted Turkey, Pot Roast or three other flavors, all made with real meat and vegetables, “for a taste dogs crave”.

Bil-Jac’s PisaPizza is gourmet pizza for dogs. Each pie is made with real mozzarella and pepperoni.

Dessert

K9 Granola Factory outdid themselves with these mini cinnamon bundt cakes topped with vanilla yogurt.

Pawsitively Gourmet’s black and white cookie is a chicken flavored black and white cookie with a “delicious” carob and yogurt glaze.

Bright Bites are a peppermint dental treat. The snacks promote good oral hygiene and prevent gum disease. Their shape and texture help to fight plaque and tartar; they even whiten teeth!

Interesting; I will have to check out these products and do a write-up.

As you know, dogs have a much keener sense of smell than do humans. That is why dogs are attracted to foods, and sometimes dismiss foods after a few whiffs. They eat based on smell. That is also one of several reasons that they sometimes eat poop (they smell the foods in there that have not been digested). Since dogs tend to see in greenish-blue colors and stranger shapes (due to their retinas), it is highly likely that the visuals are just for people! Good post.
