I passed by this minimalistic place hidden behind shrubbery on Abbot Kinney many times without ever noticing it. It's a Californian cuisine, the place is crowded with hip westside crowd. FULL REVIEW

I wanted to try Joe's but their Prixe-Fix Menu for the day didn't agree with my stomach. So i decided to try Axe just a couple of paces next to it. With a name like that, i was already expecting something. The place was pretty happening for a Wednesday lu FULL REVIEW

A trip to Venice can feel like an excursion to another city within our agglomerated metropolis. As much as I’m fond of Venice of America, I rarely wind my way to that stretch of sea south of the 10. So Friday night dinner at the mysteriously pronounced Axe ("Ah-shay"?) on Abbot Kinney provided a strong dose of neo-Venice -- sleek, sophisticated, and earthier than Hollywood restaurants. (I can imagine some eye rolls right about now in response to my impressionistic, ignorant take on the neighborhood.) Axe is sort of like Venice’s answer to Ammo on Highland, and distinctly different to my Hollywood-centric sensibility. FULL REVIEW
