It's impossible to not notice Beard Papa's Sawtelle location at night. Its bright lights, colorful walls, and constant customers draw you in. In mid-July, this cream puff craze moved into the space that used to be occupied by Mousse Fantasy. That space has been renovated, and still contains Mousse Fantasy, but they no longer serve hot meals, just pastries. Each business occupies a separate counter.

These amazing creme puffs were only the thing of dreams for me when I first heard about them. I had heard that one had opened at the new Hollywood and Highland center, and the buzz (and creme puffs) were good. I mostly have no business to do around Hollywood, so I never got the chance to go. However, one hot day last month, after the July 4th weekend - a bunch of us went to Nijiya for a lunch break...and low and behold...a Beard Papa had appeared out of the rubble that once was Mousse Fantasy. Better yet, Beard Papa and Mousse Fantasy were sharing the same remodeled space - a perfect dessert combo.

Girl's one request during her trip was that I'd take her to Roscoe's. I love it! I don't know why that chicken in the back looks blue. Anyhow, Roscoe's is timeless...it's chicken and waffles and that alone is beauty.

Choux Shopping: Beard Papa'a (As Well As Some Other Marukai Food Court Eats!)
It's New Years Day morning and while the rest of the world is fast asleep and hungover, Isaac and I were bright eyed and bushy tailed (OK, maybe just a tad bloated from all that pizza, wine, and cheese) and decided to head out to Gardena to visit a friend and do a little shopping.

A Japanese cream puff chain Beard Papa's opens a store in LA at the toursitsy glitzy Hollywood & Highland mall, aka BAD LOCATION that I have no reason to go to! -__-;;;; Then I ran out of foundation in the middle of week so I had to run to the nearest makeup store during my precious lunch time, so that brought me to that mall, which gave me a chance to try those cream puffs! I got a box of six, three custard three chocolate. Though I didn't get the chance to eat them until the next day (work till midnight @_@ left them at car so too lazy to get them). It's not as fresh anymore, but they still taste very good! The puff is soft and melt in your mouth, the cream is light and not too sweet. I found the custard one better than chocolate. Got a free keychain with the purchase.

When Krispy Kreme first came to Southern California, people went nuts for the stuff. Drove in from hours away to the only location on the West coast, as if Jesus Christ almighty had come back to sell us donuts and the only way to see Him was to wait in line at the drive through window of the Brea Krispy Kreme. The madness didn’t subside for months after the grand opening.
