The variety in food in the Los Angeles area can't be surpassed. I've been to so many different kinds of places that serve an amazing variety of food from all over the world. Cafe Brasil is a personal favorite during weekday lunches, because of their proximity and their famous executive lunch. Roll up to the cashier, past mismatched tables and chairs with big cheery bowls of lemons, apples or tomatoes in them (real, not fake!) I usually don't order anything but the Executive Lunch, which is only available for a small narrow frame of time during lunch-hour. It's a perfect plate of steak, or chicken, with rice, plantains, beans and pico de gallo. Not too much of anything, not too little.

I took Joan to Cafe Brazil, (west LA is unfamiliar territory to her, she's a Hollywood area person ^^;;). She had the dark chicken, a bit dry this time. I had the special Clam Pasta, very tasty and greasy, but the dark tiny canned clams are a bit off putting (which I avoided ^^;;). I would like to know what the chopped vegetables are (not shown in pic, they're all layered at bottom), very chinese tasting, very crunchy in pasta!

It's amazing how time flies! I can't believe that it's been over six months since I started this online journal of good eats, and to celebrate the good times, MS and I took it back to one of our first hangouts - Cafe Brazil.

Back to Cafe Brazil (see previous entry) and everyone agrees this time it is exceptionally good!!! The chicken (dark meat so very juicy and tender), my god~~ so perfect! I tried their coffee (very good) and was delight to find the sugar was rock candy pop (haven't seen that since Japan). *O* I can't get enough of this place, especially the interior!

Very cozy, homemade style authentic Brazilian food! They have these cheap Executive Lunch set during workdays, and I went back twice already. The sides: black beans, salad and rice are all very tasty and the plantains are the best I had so far. The tasty flavored rice reminds me of rice from 'Hainan Chicken Rice.' I got the steak this time, which was a bit hard. Last time I had chicken and that was wonderful.
