Doughboys: Ok, the Third Street location may have a slight health dept. mishap; and their service may not always be consistently good (even for a casual place) -- but my experiences there are almost always positive. During my last dine-in last Sunday at the Hollywood location, my companion and I shared the morning pizza (with globs of melted cheese, caramelized onions, pancetta and fried eggs) that's plain gooey good. I also had their basil chicken salad that was an explosion of flavors with its major chunks of meat, avocado, orange wedges, walnuts and blue cheese tossed with mixed greens in a light citrus vinaigrette. Taste test: Doughboys Hollywood, pros and cons

With the original Third Street Doughboys finally re-opened after some remodeling, I finally got around to trying the newer Hollywood outlet. The first thing I noticed is that the lunch crowd in Hollywood is a lot different than the staid workers on Wilshire or even the actress/slackers on Third. Girls in hotpants and towering red platforms! Guys with mohawks and expensively ripped "punk" pants! FULL REVIEW

My brother received some bad news this morning. Nothing tragic or personal, but hey, loss is loss. It's times like this when you want to fall back on something reliable and familiar and comforting. After Eat, Drink & Be Merry took us all to SNL's Taco Town, I got to thinking: What Los Angeles restaurants truly embody the Taco Town mentality of more is better? Let's see, we have Cheesecake Factory. C&O's Trattoria. But even those stay on the side of regular dishes in big portions. I was looking for a restaurant that makes truly outrageous dishes in big portions. Something where I read through the menu and think, "wait, are they serious?" FULL REVIEW
