We've dined at Cafe Beaujolais (1, 2, 3) plenty of times but this is the first time I try their lunch "counterpart" Le Petit Beaujolais, which is few blocks away across the street. Just like Cafe Beaujolais, it's a casual French bistro/bakery that offer simple hearty french dishes. They have a extensive brunch menu on the weekend, everything are reasonably priced.

A common food lament about L.A. is the lack of neighborhood French restaurants that aren’t overly pedestrian or fussy, and serve solid, down-to-earth staples, like coq au vin, Potage D'Oignon, steak frites, Cassoulet. Like what you find on every fourth block in Manhattan. I get sick of hearing it, but honestly, I’m one of those people from whom this complaint can often be heard. Our recent semi-disastrous experience at La Poubelle didn’t do much to make me feel much better about this situation either. A couple dinners at relatively modest local French restaurants have gotten me thinking about this question again.

Le Petit Beaujolais is the small sister to Cafe Beaujolais (the more formal dinner restaurant) across the street. Another reason I find myself wanting to visit Eagle Rock more often -- the neighborhood boasts some fine joints (and I'm not just talking Cas

Well, at least that's what's silkscreened on the black shirts of the French waiters at a favorite little restaurant of mine, Cafe Beaujolais.

Had a wonderful dinner again at Cafe Beaujolais, this time with Stan and Dean (who went there few weeks ago after reading about it here ^_^ They too said it's great! And last time they get acquianted with this lovely old couple sitting next to their table and met them again last night!). Apparently it's Jazz night on Wednesday so there's a jazz band playing in the already very noisy packed restaurant. So the waiter drew on the table paper to tell us the special menu (so cute! *^^*) I had a Rose Wine $6. Please excuse my ignorance of wine, ^^;; I thought it's more lightweighted as Rose is sorta of semi-red wine? But still I was pretty dizzy half way the glass.

Finally went to this French restaurant Café Beaujolais at Eagle Rock! Recommended by Vero, we tried to go there 3 times before but either it was closed for re-modeling or no lunch. I love it very much, the place is very cozy and casual (french country-ish), price is fair. All the chefs and waiters are French. They're very friendly and chatty. Don't be fool by the photo, soon later this whole place is FULL HOUSE!! We were there early and got the last 'unreserved' table. White wine $7.50 a glass.
