Finding myself on the corner of Sunset & Vine at Hollywood and absolutely starving, what better thing to do than to check out some diners & restaurants.

Danielle treat me lunch here since I helped her with the design of her business card. I've been here few times before, see here and here. I've gotten bored with their menu already (usual flare of rather predictable pasta and sandwiches). So I ordered the appetizer Ahi Tuna Tartare (yes yes a usual flare for LA restaurants too) for a change and find that it's refreshingly good. The tuna tartare has rather unique flavors that're different from the other ones out there. I like the fried lotus roots sides a lot. It's filling enough as a main dish too. I can see myself sticking to this dish if I ever go back to this place.

Went back to this place with co-workers for lunch. I got the Burger which is pretty good, you can pick your choice of cheese and I got blue cheese. Half way eating I wish I got the Bolognese again though. The Ahi Tuna Steak is a bit pricey ($20), especially for a work-day lunch. ^^;;

Met up with a friend at this new Italian place on Sunset. Funny to see a big group of employees from Picture Mill (one of IF's main competitors) there. My friend got the Lobster Ravioli and I got the Bolognese. As someone who doesn't get excite about Italian food, I really enjoy these two dishes a lot, particularly the Lobster Ravioli. The skin is so soft and fresh. The sauce for both dishes are great with subtle multiple flavors, not the usual predictable taste you get from most Italian places. Good to find a new walking distance lunching spot that's good!

Sugar, Sweet, or Steel, it's definitely a Stylish Magnolia
To follow up on my Monday post about Los Balcones, turns out we wound up at Magnolia sooner than I’d planned. And again, compare-and-contrast essay dorkdom rears it ugly head.
