A few years ago I suggested Ruen Pair as a spot for a first date. As we were sitting down to a delicious meal of morning glory stems and papaya salad, the gentleman in question curtly told me, "Don't bring anyone else here on a first date. It's ok for me, because I'm into food. But you'll scare off anyone else." Well, Ruen Pair reopened a few months ago after closing to enlarge the space, and perhaps the gentlemen would now find it more to his liking. They've repainted and it's less cramped although...

Well Ruen Pair is finally out on the town after months of restaurant augmentation. I think Thai towners are grateful to see their favorite Thai Town joint up and running again. Ruen Pair is a part of Thai Town's Big and Clean. Big and Clean restaurants in

Ruen Pair is one of the best Thai restaurants in LA. Chowhound, food bloggers and restaurant reviewers all agree. Finally (it was being remodeled forever), I can join them in their praise.

Though I wrote entries about my favorite restaurant in Thai town many times, but I always crave the same duck stew noodle and keep ordering the same thing. For blog worthy sake, one of these days I got to order something different. Anyway their Lungan drinks and Plum tea are good, strong sweet chillness to balance their strong tasting dishes.

When all else closes early, there's always Ruenpair Thai
Lunch at Ruen Pair the day before. We dragged along someone who hasn't been there before, and as expected he's instantly hooked. I had the Ruen Pair Egg Noodle ($6.55) that can be served soup or no soup. 'No soup' sounded odd so I tried it. It is very salty ^^;; good though! The newcomer tried this Curry Chicken and Bean dish ($6.50) that he kept saying "my god it is soooo good" the rest of the day.

The Cashier looks more like a shrine! Thai Town is at Hollywood so we always go there for lunch during workdays. There're many really good and Thai restaurants there. But we always go to Ruen Pair. It is right across the famous restaurant Palm, where Thai Elvis dwelled (^^; a Thai singer perform there at night who dresses up like Elvis and sings Elvis's song, sound like the real thing!). Since we tried Ruen Pair and were stunned by its good taste...we never went back to Palm ever again.
