Who would have thought that I would be having a double-date with my mom? MS and I met my mom and step-dad at their favorite udon restaurant, Sanuki no Sato, for an eary dinner last month. Doors opened for dinner at 5:30pm, and my mom asked to be seated at her favorite booth. What's funny is that we all tend to order the same things when we're at this family favorite: Mom & me: Spinach Salad without the Bonito Flakes AS & me: Tempura Udon Mom: Plain Udon MS: Katsu or CurryWe love the baby spinach leaves that come with a ginger sesame dressing, small pieces of bacon, sprouts, and a wedge of lemon. Been there long time ago (with Tomoko) and were underwhelmed by this supposedly famous udon place that were visited by lots of Japanese celebrities when they were in LA (the walls nearby doorway were fully patched with their photos and autographs). So here we are again. I had the Egg and Crab Udon, Joan had the Pork Cutlet Udon set. The pork cutlet was very good. I think it's the soup that are too plain, too one-note strong salty water tasting.
