They stipulated: That you find parking. Good luck : There are only 2 spots (plus a handicapped one) in front. Try to find a spot on Colorado.

Finally tried the Euro-turkish Spitz: Doner Kebab Shack which Freda raved here. I tried the Combo Plate that has everything: Both the paper thin stripes of homemade Doner meat and Chicken Doner (very generouos amount), Tzatziki sauce, Falafel, hummus, fried pita strips, Julienne-cut French Fries and salad. It's incredible! I absolutely love both of the doner meat. Also tried their gelato: Pomegranate and Double espresso + vanilla and Carbernet Sauvignon and Chocolate Hazelnut. The gelato are very rich, silky smooth and fresh. Never thought that Doner kebab + Gelato would be such great meal combo!

I finally tried the much anticipated Spitz: Doner Kebab Shack at Eagle Rock. I ordered the Classic: Paper-thin strips of lamb with Panini-toasted Focaccia bread, Tzatziki sauce and chili sauce. SO GOOD! Really one of the best sandwich I've had. The Tzatziki sauce taste a bit like yogurt + blue cheese salad dressing. And the thin lamb meat! Very flavored, tender and smooth. I had the side of Sweet Potato fries that is just one of the BEST ever. My mouth watered as I'm typing. I read from their site that their method is European style, not Turkish. They have gelato as well...I'd try next time.

It was 12:30 PM as I drove home from meeting with clients and the morning's work had left me feeling like breakfast was no longer holding me over. In about two hours I plan to meet with one more client across town for an hour and a half session - an hour and a half without food - and at this point I'm so hungry I'm almost tempted to order a drive-thru combo #whatever just so I can have something solid in my stomach. But I resist. I'm just about to take the Sunset Blvd route from downtown to the 2 freeway in hopes of avoiding lunch hour traffic on the 110 north so my empty stomach doesn't take me down the highway to road rage. I'm getting hungrier by the quarter mile and I need something quick! I don't neccessarily want drive-thru food that was slapped together [even though I really want drive-thru food - but I stand strong I refuse to give in]; Mexican is just too heavy, however it's depth of flavor is right up the alley for what I want: something juicey, spicey and well seasoned to hit the spot. Did I mention I also have a hankering for french-fries, but today I want a twist to the usual batch of Idaho potatoes. I want it all and I want it ready by the time I arrive!

Since this is Hollywood, it's easy to think of the story of Spitz: Home of the Doner Kabob in pitch form: Boy travels to Spain for semester abroad. Tastes a doner kabob and falls in love. Learns everything he can from the old and grizzled master kabob-maker. Comes back to the U.S. with a grand kabob vision, graduates from college, and partners with an old friend to bring the magic of this late-night European treat to America. But! They run into obstacles and it's unclear whether their dream will become reality. They have a falling out, followed by a dreary, sleepless night, soundtracked by a wailing Middle Eastern ballad. Not to fear--the friends reunite, the restaurant opens to great acclaim and spawns a Spitz chain across California. Or something like that (melodramatic fight/reunion not true-to-life, as far as I know). There's a reason I'm not in the entertainment industry!
