For afternoons when it takes me forever to get out of the house and we miss lunch at most restaurants, Comme Ça comes in handy. Daylight is kind to the space. White vinyl tufted booths and high contrast decor elements...

When it’s pouring rain outside, and you have a gift card in your wallet with $$ still left on it, how can you resist the temptation of a cozy French bistro and onion soup? The other night Comme Ca was calling our names in a sexy French accent and the promise of hot comfort food. [...]

Let joy be known throughout the land: Comme Ca got rid of the awful chairs in the bar area. Technically, of course, they aren't chairs at all but metal stools and oddly low ones at that. Perching on them conjured up memories of sitting at the kindergarten coloring table, which is more than a little weird when you're in a bar. (Pics below courtesy Eater LA and its photographer, the wildly talented Alen Lin) In any case, they've been stacked...

I’m still not exactly sure how to pronounce it, but as word of mouth quickly spreads about the new David Myers French brasserie Comme Ca, it wont matter what it’s called or how it’s pronounced. Because it simply is… all that. Yes there are kinks to work out as with any new place, with new [...]

The Knife didn't get to Comme Ca on its opening weekend, but Variety comrade Danielle Grimes did. The verdict? A fair amount of glitchery, although nothing that can't be fixed or ascribed to opening jitters. That said, it sounds like the initially rapturous reactions (The Knife's included) might be just a wee bit overstated, if only for the moment. Take it away, valiant guest blogger... So it's Saturday night and it's appropriate that I'm winding my way to Comme Ca...

The opening event for Comme ça was a cheese, cocktail and oyster-filled affair, easily surpassing my expectations. Notably: -the bar area is much bigger than Sona's -the cheese bar at the front of the restaurant means there won't be a reason to venture past the main bar (I imagine a circular pattern; cheese, wine, cheese, maybe a restroom break at some point, cheese, wine, cheese) -the room noise is kept to a comfortable level -the ambiance is very homey -the food, not surprisingly, is magnificent with the oysters, cod/potato balls and puff pastries ranking amongst my favorites -the specialty cocktails were strong except for the...

Last night's opening preview of Comme Ca revealed a lovely re-do of the Middle Eastern cafe Noura on Melrose. Unfortunately the patio and fire pit were gone, but the space has been beautifully revamped in a crisp black and white color scheme, with lots of shiny white subway tiles (even in the bathroom, pictured), blackboards on the walls and black bookshelves lining the bar area. There's a large

Comme Ca will soon open for dinner, lunch and breakfast; world domination to follow shortly thereafter.
Comme Ca's frites, which were topped with aioli and served in a paper cone Comme Ca (8479 Melrose Ave.) held its opening-night party Wednesday and did only one thing wrong: It didn't open today (as chef-owner David Myers once hoped). And when it does, L.A.'s restaurant world will shift on its axis: Between Lucques, Bastide, Ago, Myers' own Sona and his wife Michelle's Boule(s), the city's food nexus will be at the corner of Melrose and La Cienega. (Drag out...
