MOMA's Cafe 2

We went to MOMA one Saturday morning, right when they opened, thinking we'd miss the crowds. We didn't. We found ourselves at the end of a very long line that wasn't even going to start moving for another half an hour. So Todd proposed a membership; at $75 it would pay for itself after just two visits. He went off to investigate while I got all excited about being able to spend cold winter afternoons at the museum instead of in my tiny apartment, so when he came back with a higher figure we decided to go for it anyway. So we basically paid $120 so we wouldn't have to stand in line one Saturday morning (which makes us sound extravagant, but when you consider what we pay for Gymboree classes . . .). I've already been once more so I don't think it was a bad move. And the cafe turns out to be very baby-friendly, especially during off times. FULL REVIEW

Cafe 2 @ MoMA

While Freda went to work, I spent my time at MoMA, especially since it's raining outside. I went to the "very gourmet" cafe on 2nd floor Freda raved about last time. Wow it is very very good indeed. Forgot the fancy name of this dish but it's Baked Egg with Prosuitto, so delicious! And the Chocolate Chesnut Tart is so incredibly good! >O< Why can't this cafe be available on its own? It's almost worth to pay $12 (with student discount :P) for the museum entrance to just eat there! FULL REVIEW

The cafe in Museum of Modern Art is unbelievably gourmet! I had the Roasted lamb leg with braised swiss chard and anson mills polenta. It's fantastic, so tasty, tender and juicy~ FULL REVIEW

Some people dream of being the prime minister, or becoming a world famous composer, or ending world hunger. Me, I aspire to be one of those ladies who lunches. I don't necessarily have to not work -- I can see myself being a full time freelancer, hunched over my iBook late into the night. But I'd like to wake up on the later side of the morning, take a 10:00 a.m. yoga class, maybe have a piece of fruit, and go meet a friend at the MOMA for the afternoon. We'd make fun of the tourists and the art we don't get, enjoy the sculpture garden, and stroll around leisurely without having to deal with the germy masses that accompany the non 9-5 hours. Then, after exhausting ourselves, we'd head down to the museum cafe for a little nosh and dirt-dishing. FULL REVIEW

Cafe2 & Cold (dis)Comfort

Upper levels of the newly refurbished MOMA exude a bit of warmth, thanks to the natural light and golden-hued wooden floors, but the lower level is all about concrete and hard edges. I didn’t go to art school, so you’ll need to pardon my ignorance if this query is too juvenile, but I’d really like to know: Does modern art need to housed in chilly environs? Does a museum need to be sleek surfaces? (Don’t get me wrong… I understand a need for simplicity. The work should speak for itself, and yet...) FULL REVIEW
