While shopping, Sara and I stopped in at The Chocolate Bar inside Henri Bendel's The Chocolate Bar inside Henri Bendel's. The liquid chocolate and coffee is good but it wasn't the beverages that I will remember. It's a nice place to take a break from shopping since they have great window seats (which was perfect for us since it was snowing) and their staff is fantastic. Both guys just seemed so happy to be there. After we finished shopping (more looking, not buying), Sara and I headed to Soba Nippon Soba Nippon, a place known for their house-made soba. We decided to share a Soba Salad (with chicken) since Sara had read good things about...

After a trip to chocolate bar, you’ll never look at a Snickers again Upon entering Alison Nelson’s chocolate bar, it takes the discipline of a monk to pass by the Kahlua-and-cream bonbons or decline a peppermint mocha. But ultimately chocolate bar is the destination for — you guessed it — chocolate bars. Happily, it doesn’t disappoint. With flavors like milk sesame and white chocolate infused with lime, the big blocks of Brown Label chocolate ($6.25) are for true gourmands. Me, I went straight to the two lines that are more kid-in-a-candy-store-fun. Retro Bars ($3) boast such nostalgic ingredients as raspberry jam and caramel apple

Again, not Asian. But worth a quick note as one travels through the West Village area. A popular coffee/chocolate joint - stylish, upscale and known for celebrity sightings. A quick summary says it all: tasty chocolate (though surely not the best in town) - with prices that are too high, though fair for the image that they're trying to project.

This is a continuation of Part 1. Of course, you need a first part before you have the second part. An exception is dessert, which you would normally eat after the first part (ie, something that isn’t dessert), but is perfectly okay to eat as the first and second part, and possibly a third part. Really! I don’t make these things up. However, you may want to consult your physician before heeding my words.

Sometimes even though you'd like to do something with someone else, it's easier to do the thing yourself, the "thing" in this case being "going to a bunch of places that sell food you've never tried before and eating the food." The drawback to this is consuming more calories than you would if you could share the food with someone else. You could wait until a friend is free or you can just go ahead and fatten yourself up in isolation.

Restauranteurs in New York seem to be growing and capitalizing on their successes these days. The owners of Bot and Bottino opened another B restaurant in the West Village called Bivio. Bot never worked out but Bottino has been around for quite some time in Chelsea. I always liked Bottino. The food is always good. There is a nice vibe in the restaurant and the garden is lovely. I have probably had more lunches there than dinners because they have the best food in the area around the Chelsea art area.
