once upon a tart

the first time i came here with chich (i think. or cynthia?), i had no idea where i was. but now that i’ve spent some more time in soho and more time staring at google maps, i can now independently walk myself to this bakery. yes, of the famed “once upon a tart” cookbook, i sometimes feel like i should just go home and bake what they sell instead of buying it. but it’s not a bad place to grab coffee, pastry and sit and talk. so that’s what lacey, chris, eoghan and i did for a little while pre-dinner. the seating area is rather small and limited so you’ll kind of have to take your chances, but it didn’t seem enormously popular sunday late afternoon (not as much as say 71 irving on a sat morning), so maybe it can be a good place. i think they discourage lounging for long periods, though. Every day deserves a happy ending Once upon a time, there was a small bakery south of Houston Street in the big city of Manhattan. Although it was less than a block away from four lanes of traffic and steps away from trendy clothing boutiques, this bakery quietly churned out wholesome sweet and savory treats. Inevitably, all those who stumbled across it came to love this bakery. So it is in New York. Often the most charming (not to mention, delicious) establishments are those that take you far, far away from the incessant hustle of city life. Once Upon A Tart is an adorable bakery/cafe that is located in SoHo. They have great baked goods at a reasonable price. I find that their sweets are much better than their savory goods (which I find quite bland). FULL REVIEW
