I had dinner at Fleur de Sel on Christmas Eve a few years ago. It didn’t wow me. Like other expensive restaurant dinners I’ve had at holiday times, it seemed mass-produced and over-priced. But with Fleur de Sel winning a Michelin star for the second year in a row, I thought it was time to give it another chance, and was very glad I did. FULL REVIEW

One of the more peculiar events in New York - a town filled with the jolting and the eccentric - is Restaurant Week. Here restaurants advertise special lunches (at $24.07 - get it?) (and some dinners - at $35.00) that allow some restaurants to pack their tables serving meals that cost the same as the prix fixe that they offer the weeks before and after and for others to allow their chefs to snooze at the stove with dishes conventional and spare. The week provides an excuse for Bridge and Tunnel tourists to descend on Manhattan restaurants, filling each chair, and causing chaos throughout. But if it works, go for it. FULL REVIEW

Located on a sleepy block of East 20th Street, Fleur De Sel sneaks up on you like a ray of sunshine through the clouds. This lovely buttercup colored cottage-like restaurant is one of the most enchanted hideaways in the city, serving Cyril Renaud's sophisticated brand of French-American fare in a serene dining room, decorated with sheer curtains, soothing creamy walls, and lovely bouquets of fresh flowers. It is, quite simply, a lovelyand romantic setting to enjoy a dinner of stunningly presented, delicate, and deliciously prepared food. FULL REVIEW
