I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at CraftbarCraftbar, the casual sister restaurant to Craft. It's a great central location to meet a friend (that friend being Chrissy) to catch up. You can have a full meal or snack on a wide selection of meats, cheeses, snacks, bruschettas, and of course choose from a large wine list. We shared an appetizer of Calamari with Arugula and Lemon Confit. It was possibly the best calamari dish I have ever had. Each piece was cooked perfectly and the flavor was intense. The acidic lemon confit and briny tenticles and rings fought in equal battle for dominance in my mouth. We opted for a a full dinner so I chose...

Went to Craftbar on Friday night for a quick bite before checking out the Allman Brothers at the Beacon Theater(disappointing concert by the way...possibly one of the worst of more than 20 Allman Brothers shows I've been to).

Craft is one of New York’s iconic restaurants. It derives its name partly from the structure of the menu, which presents ingredients in various categories, allowing the diner to craft his own meal. This can be a rewarding but expensive undertaking, with vegetable side dishes running to $12-15 apiece. The restaurant is also known for a style of cooking that "celebrate[s] ‘single’ ingredients, expertly and simply prepared." But Chef Tom Colicchio (Gramercy Tavern) is quick to note, "Simple does not mean simplistic." Today I broke that that 900 bar mark and began the countdown through the final 100. When I started this adventure I had no doubt that I could successfully complete it, but I have to admit, looking back, I am somewhat amazed that I made it this far. I have come to realize that once I hit my final bar it will be with a sense of both pride and relief.

Three of my coworkers and I had the pleasure of being taken to lunch by our friend and contact at PR Newswire, Hoda, today. At Hoda's recommendation, we went to Craftbar, a place that, having been discussed ad nauseum by Andrea Strong, was on my ever-growing list of must-visits. So needless to say, I was excited.

Todd and I went here late Saturday afternoon, for some wine, salumi and sandwiches. I really love their menu, especially if I'm with someone who's just willing to graze on starters and maybe split a sandwich. I have to admit that I've never had a main plate here because I'm always too full on the other stuff (never had dessert here, either, which is really sad because a couple of the desserts looked remarkable).
