Met up D'Artagnan and Maximus Thursday night. Tried to figure out where to go and we settled on the Flatiron district since Mrs Maximus was in the area. Flatiron is a phenomenal area for food and I've always had great food experiences all over this area. Found Via Emilia using NY Magazine as it was recommended by them. Food was decent, service was bad, and the price was outstanding. Either way, as usual it was a great night out with the dudes. Overall, I give the restaurant an 74/100. My Menu 1) Gnocco Fritto -...

Better than a Condo on Park Avenue South: Via Emilia
Late last year, the popular Northern Italian restaurant Via Emilia was forced to leave its long-time Park Avenue South location because its building was slated for demolition. The reason? Another condo development. Say what you want about the manic pace of apartment construction in the city these days but this was a real loss, a loss felt around the chowhounding world. Fortunately for the hungry among us, Via Emilia has found a way to rise from the rubble in style, moving into new digs about two blocks away on East 21st Street. Going to see "Proof" the other night on 17th and Broadway, my companion and I were in the Tom Collichio district: Craft, Craftbar, the former home of 'Wichcraft.* [*Hey! You know how I'm also raving about how much I love 'Wichcraft? Well it's not there anymore. Sure it's in Bryant Park and somewhere else but no longer near me. I am mad!] [Hey, can someone teach me how to do HTML so that if someone clicked that initial * a tiny textbox would open with the text: "Hey! You know..."?] Anyway: Craft and Craftbar are way too expensive for a pre-movie dinner.

Forgetting about my aforementioned jalapeno-peppered Austrian Thanksgiving dinner, got to admit that the holiday week was a real winner when it came to restaurants. Not one, but three restaurants seemed worthy of praise on this site.
