My first pierogie ever! (Am I spelling that right??) Even with a Polish stepdad! Oh, yeah, and half-polish husband. Forgot that I now have a Polish last name... DEFINITELY about time I had a pierogie then! We thought it'd be a good idea to take the parents out for a Polish culinary adventure, something you don't really find in their home in South Florida. Well they fell in love with Teresa's, another suggestion by the husband. We showed up for an early dinner and were seated immediately, though it filled up quickly thereafter. apparently, parts (or all?) of e. village used to be a big polish enclave. teresa’s was not one of those original establishments. according to S, it’s mama restaurant is back in Brooklyn. regardless, as one of my backburner projects, i am determined to have good pierogies and good polish [...] FULL REVIEW

Who are the people that order Lobster Tails off of a diner menu? Are they insane? Do they have a death wish? Or do they just not know the basic rule of diner dining: STICK TO BASIC DINER FOOD!!! FULL REVIEW

Pierogies and blintzes at the East Village Ukrainian Restaurant

On Thursday afternoon after my photography class, I wandered around the East Village while thinking, "...What the hell do I eat for lunch?" I called some friends; no one picked up. Hmm. And by "nobody" I mean three people, one of which was a wrong number (apparently, I don't keep in touch with that friend very well). It just wasn't my day. Dumplings are among my favorite foods, and apparently the world agrees. From pelmeni to piergoies, to kartoffelklosse to kreplach, from pork buns to potstickers, so many cultures have their own versions of this filling appetizer. Determined to get just a taste of what’s out there, Vince and I devised the Dumpling World Tour, a jaunt across continents or at least across town. FULL REVIEW
