Attention of Detail Can Turn a Good Thing Bad I think I know why the Upper West Side gets a bad wrap. The fancy schmancy food isn’t very good. Actually, let me correct that. The food can be OK. There can be good value here. There is tradition. But more often than not, food and service on the Upper West falls short. I don’t want to generalize this realization, as I know some UWS spots are headed in the right direction. But after a visit to one of the “best” UWS spots, I was left disheartened. Telepan is a restaurant that caters to the neighborhood...well sort of. It's basic food fare served (nothing out of the ordinary) and the prices are moderate, considering the location in the Upper West Side. The food is delicious and the ingredients used here is very fresh. I would come back here for the food. FULL REVIEW

Lunch with some colleagues today was excellent. Restaurant Week menu was better than most I've seen in the past...probably because it pretty much the same lunch menu they regularly offer. FULL REVIEW

I was walking around the upper west side one afternoon when I saw the spoon, knife and fork Telepan logo. I crossed the street to check out the menu posted outside and made a mental note to return and eat there. Months elapsed and I forgot the name and location. I just kept thinking of that logo. Enter Arabella who told me a recent dinner at Telepan was one of her best meals in a long time. The Dr.’s friends were visiting from Seattle so I booked a table for four without making the connection. When it came time to eat, I walked up 69th Street and noticed the logo that’s been bugging me for some time. I knew then I was meant to eat at Telepan. FULL REVIEW

My friend and I had dinner at Telepan on Saturday evening. The restaurant is named for Bill Telepan, who was formerly the chef at Judson Grill, which has since closed. Telepan has received favorable buzz, including a two-star review from Bruni (and some thought it was a contender for three). Certainly the addition of another serious restaurant near Lincoln Center is a welcome development. But we were underwhelmed FULL REVIEW
