clay tipped me off to this coffee shop just down the street from his dorm. his usual scrabble-playing locale with jim. while i haven’t yet played scrabble here (this is my first trip), i’m already enjoying this spacious cafe which serves up fair trade coffee and teas (the decaf black is not bad) as well as the usual cafe fare, which i haven’t tried yet, but which you can read about on citysearch. although the free wi-fi has been spotty on my old ibm, i think after so many crowded manhattan cafes, i simply appreciated being able to walk in around 7:45 on a monday evening, easily find a spot with an outlet (ample outlets up front), get a drink and sit to work away. it’s definitely got a college-y feel (what do you expect for a cafe right in the middle of nyu dorms), but not in a horrendous way. and while the music was a bit louder and trendier earlier, it’s mellowed out now into a pleasant beatles mix. perfecto. unless i have a bad experience next time, a la some citysearch reviews, i’m recommending this place.
