My Dinner at TocquevilleBy The Strong Buzz May 14, 2007I've always dreamed of having a house. I've got bigger dreams too-write the great American novel (I already wrote one, but I am pretty sure it's not great), travel the world, right the injustices of our time. But this house thing is one dream that I actually hope I can realize. I can picture it in my mind because my dream house is very similar to the house we used to go to during the summer as kids. FULL REVIEWTocqueville RestaurantBy Salli Vates Dec 22, 2006Tocqueville is still hot, hot, hot, even though its new incarnation has been open since February. Last night, our party of four had a 9 p.m. reservation, but a table didn't open up until after 10. Fortunately, the gracious host sat us at the bar, plying us with complimentary glasses of Lafitte Rose and all the sparkling water we could drink! Although we weren't able to move to the dining room until our entrees, we certainly appreciated the hospitality. (Service was excellent throughout the night.) FULL REVIEWTocquevilleBy Gotham Gal Jun 16, 2006Tocqueville has been a quiet gem on East 15th Street for 7 or so years. Recently, they made an executive decision to take a larger space down the street while keeping their old place for something else (that is yet to be built). It is tough changing locations. However, there is only one Tocqueville, a newly expanded and ostensibly more ambitious eatery off the square, co-owned by the wife-and-husband team of Jo-Ann Makovitzky and Brazilian-born chef Marco Moreira. FULL REVIEWTocquevilleBy New York Journal Dec 19, 2005Tocqueville offers a quiet, civilized dining experience. The design, muted and refined, has a calming influence, and unlike so many modern restaurants, doesn’t call attention to itself. The dining room is small and the tables reasonably close together—yet, you hear your companion’s voice without shouting, and you don’t hear anybody else’s conversation. Even if you knew no more, all of these attributes would recommend Tocqueville to the discerning diner looking for an evening’s escape without busting the budget. FULL REVIEWTocquevilleBy Gotham Gal Nov 04, 2005Many times I have tried to get over to Tocqueville for dinner and have failed in my attempts. I have heard great things. I recommended the restaurant to Fred for Union Square Ventures investors the other night. It was a huge hit. I wish I had gone over the years but I will most certainly go again after the other night.
