Every Day Is Special: Gennaro

Here, in a city with such a strong Italian heritage, you might think that excellent Italian restaurants would abound. Before coming to New York City, I believed just that– I pictured myself popping out to the corner Italian bistro every week or so for a gorgeous meal that I could never prepare at home. But the reality is that New York is home to a lot of really disappointing Italian cooking, much of it ironically in Little Italy. I really have never figured out why this is the case, especially with the easy access Gothamites have to the best-quality ingredients, imported and domestic. FULL REVIEW
