supposedly the mike’s of new york, we stopped in at veniero post-friendhouse. the entrance is a long counter display full of delicious and beautiful looking pastries. the great thing about veniero is that it has a lot of space (for e. village), so you can fit large parties. i had a decaf cappuccino & a sfogliatella (i think), which was a “clam-shaped” pastry filled with sweet ricotta with a “hint of citron.” inappropriate shellfish-analogies aside, it was quite a good pastry! since i was already pretty full from dinner, the light sweet ricotta was a perfect dessert, and the cappuccino was decent (good but not stellar). i tasted a bit of chris’ truffle cake, which was basically a devil’s food chocolate cake with raspberry jam layers. it was fine, but i don’t particularly like fruit in my chocolate cakes. taints them.

An East Village Evening: Koi and Veniero Pasticceria
When Diana and I made plans to see "A History of Violence" on 2nd. Avenue Friday night, we came across the obstacle of "where will we eat for dinner?" My brain entered Terminator mode and brought up a map of 2nd avenue and tried to determine, with various graphs and charts, what was near the movie theater. And then a word came into my head: "Koi!" I said.
