Chicken was the highlight of the combo. The skin was borderline crisp, the meat was very juicy and the flavor was very good, with just a hint of sweetness that didn’t overshadow the natural chicken taste. A fun place with decent food, but for me at least, it didn't live up to the hype. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I rush back? Probably not.

When we’re out in the city one of my favorite places to stop by on the way back to Jersey and pick up some dinner is Dinosaur Barbecue — it’s conveniently located right off the West Side Highway in Harlem, by the 125th Street exit across the street from Fairway Market. I love the whole biker, badass image of the place — and you could almost say that it was a Disney/Epcot-like portrayal of a biker roadhouse, if it was not for the fact that real badass bikers actually go to eat there and the owner, John Stage, besides being a BBQ genius is a badass biker himself. His original restaurant up in Syracuse (which is still in business) is the real deal. Dinosaur also opened a Rochester location in 1998 as well.

I don't love BBQ. it wreaks havoc on my system. But I can appreciate a meal every so often, since my one and only is basically hooked up to a BBQ IV. Dinosaur BBQ seemed authentic. From the rowdy and coked up waitress, to the 3 year old who weighed 100lbs+ stuffing his face with corn bread.

Valentine's Day. It comes and goes and usually for me, despite the anticipation, planning and excitement, ends up being a regular day, like most of my New Year's Eves (though not this year's after a drunken buffoon tried to jump me and then my wallet was stolen-that was enough excitement to get me through the year).

Went down to Dinosaur BBQ today over in West Harlem (across the street from Fairway). Dinosaur BBQ is a biker bar with serious selection of BBQ ribs, chicken and briskets. Dinosaur BBQ was started by bikers back in 1983 and over the years they evolved their BBQ recipies to award winning status. Considering how cold it was today it was welcoming to sit down to a enourmous plate of ribs, chicken and cornbread. We got the three meats traditional sampler for $14.95 (1/4 Chicken Leg Thigh, 1/4 Rack of Ribs, Texas Beef Brisket (sliced), cornbread and two sides - simmered greens and home fries. It was plenty enough for 2 people.
