After a meeting with John Davis of Creative Edge Parties, Roger and I headed to the Petite Abeille on Hudson Street for lunch. It's a tiny location with seating for only about 12-15 people. The kitchen is just behind a counter and fully visible to anyone inside the restaurant.
We started with some mussels, cooked in white wine with thyme, onion, and celery. It was simple, fresh, and delicious.

Bday meals, parts 3&4: Lucky Strike brunch and belgian stuffs @ petite abeille
After my dinners at Morimoto and Spring Street Natural, I still wasn’t done with my birthday celebration with food. There were still many-a more meals to go. I figure that my birthday is the perfect excuse to be a fatty. Even to this day, a whole week and a half since my birthday, I haven’t received all my promised birthday meals yet. Alvin, being the sweet man that he is wants to cook me dinner and bake me cookies! He’s devising a special menu and we’re gonna go to Chelsea market and make a day of it. Too bad I have to wait two more weeks before he’s free for this!

I heard that there was a Belgian food boom in NYC awhile back but it has faded. I first walked by Petite Abeille at night and saw all those TinTin characters on the wall! *O*!!! This is ten blocks from office but we still walked. However the menu in the Chelsea's branch is very minimal and it's all deli food (quiche and tarts). The one in Tribeca has full menu. There're TinTin comics on the wall shelves to read.

Swimster and I grabbed breakfast before I had to run to work Saturday morning. There wasn't much thought put into the place we chose besides convenience of location. We were feeling pretty tired with a twinge of hungover-ness and chose La Petite Abeille right next to Swimster's apartment.

Le Petite Abeille has a few locations in New York including a cozy restaurant on 107 West 18th St, (at Sixth Avenue - kitty corner from Bed Bath and Beyond) I like going there for their brunch menu which includes their famous Belgium Waffles but their lunch menu isn’t too bad either and includes some very tasty sandwiches
