Many bloggers have been wowed by La Maison du Chocolat’s chocolates (even Salma Hayek) but seemingly few have commented on the macaroons. The macaroon debate, among the informed, seems to be Herme vs Laduree with various regional suggestions (Payard, Jin Patisserie, Boule, Bouchon) if the writer is stuck in America for the moment. Taking my cue from a recent article in the Gothamist, during yesterday's trip to Rockefeller Center playing at being a tourist, my best friend and I ducked into La Maison du Chocolat (The House of Chocolate sounds so much better in French, doesn't it?) for some decadent hot chocolate. Yester I left NJ for NYC at around 10:30 AM and got back home at nearly 6:00 PM. At some point in between, I obtained my Long Stay Student Visa so I could legally partake in France-based frolicking at The American University in Paris from September to December. FULL REVIEW

Free Overpriced Chocolat

Discovered a fancy chocolate loophole the other day while eating underneath Rockefeller Center. After having a couple of slices at Two Boots (the +/- of which we can argue on a later date) my wife decided she wanted a little something sweet… little being the key word. All weight issues aside, there are tons of choices to satisfy a sweet tooth. Ben and Jerry’s 50 yards away, a chocolate dipped cone from Mr. Softee on various corners of Midtown. But since small was what she was looking for, I suggested going upstairs to La Maison du Chocolat- an upscale chocolate boutique on the first floor of Rockefeller Center. FULL REVIEW
