On Monday I went to Press Toast for a sandwich. A part of me kept going, "You want to go back to Crosby Connection! You want soft foccacia bread stuffed with stuff! You want a brownie!" But then another part of me went, "You should try something new! If you don't, you'll be doing your readers a disservice. And maybe you'll find something you like. Or maybe you'll hate it. Well. Stop talking to yourself." I had actually been to Press Toast before (they have since upgraded from a tiny hole-in-the-wall to a slightly-larger-hole-in-the-wall), but all I got was a honey and banana sandwich. Perhaps it was time for something of the non-sweet variety.

Chocolate Chip Melon Pan. Okay, this was dissapointing. I thought this was going to be like a muffin or a yummy bun or something incredibly moist. However, the moist outer coat is decieving. This is a rather bland roll inside and the chocolates don't mesh well. They are bittersweet and are just plopped on the surface. Boo. I will fo sho not repeat.

Hot chocolate was awesome when I was a kid. "It's chocolate! And I can drink it! I DO NOT HAVE TO CHEW!" Granted, I don't chew non-liquid food that well anyway, but...hot chocolate! It's a warm sweet liquid that isn't bitter like tea or coffee, nor is it a savory soup.

I decided to start off the day with something healthy. Yogurt. Then I happened to...go purposely out of my way...to Panya Bakery for something more my style....PASTRIES. I am totally in the mood for a cream bun, but that seems to be a Chinese Bakery feature...and not Japanese. I peer into the case and see what their starting line up is. Some fruit tarts that look good, but I'm in the market for something with more bread per square inch.

My test drive of the Chowhound Manuel. "the sweet potato mousse" was the suggested dish, and so I went verbetum. First of all, God Bless Asian Bakeries. Do you know what the mousse came in? A clear baby cylinder with a little panya sticker! They package food cuter than babies.

While we usually just taste wine in my Beverages class (procedure: swish in mouth, suck in some air, swish around some more, spit out), today we had to drink (procedure: swallow) it for our "Food and Wine" segment. Damn. Drink. Process of allowing wine to travel down my esophagus instead of the inside of my spitoon. I'm sure the amount of wine I've actually consumed on purpose over my lifetime has amounted to less than half a cup, yet here I was around 11 AM, told to try nine wines with an array of different foods. Obviously, we had to take small sips and bites to get through everything, but I found it semi-torturous.

So I did go to B&H this morning. Waking up early and walking = bad for Robyn. IN WHAT DIMENSION HAS WAKING UP EARLY AND WALKING BECOME HARMFUL FOR MY HEALTH?
