I was at Columbus Circle yesterday and popped my head in. The display of treats is dazzling. On the Wandering Eater's advice I tried the TKO cookie. Amazing. Oreo Cookie's will never be the same :(

The Dining Desperado talks about danish and croissants in his experience at the bakery.
Ed Levine reports that Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery is now serving glazed Donuts, passion fruit-creme-filled Donuts and Donut holes!
Glazed Doughnut: I have enjoyed the filled doughnuts at Bouchon Bakery immensely and now the bakers there have branched out into glazed doughnuts. Very vanilla-ey, moist, but surprisingly dense and not feather-light by any means.

My Last Goodbye to Bouchon Bakery, Tacos, and French Pastries
Last Wednesday, when most of my finals were pretty much finished, I had breakfast Bouchon Bakery for the very last time. Yes. It’s time for me to give up the days where the photogenic (albeit a tad pricey) pastries are my usual go-to since I’m graduating. What I ended up commemorating this place were their [...]

I started my morning off at Bouchon Bakery for one last time. Most of their morning staples are there, from croissants to sandwiches, the few changes to their menu for summer, they had a berry tart and something that caught my eye for breakfast, the Apricot Elderflower Danish ($3.25). Doesn’t that sound tantalizing?

If anything besides macarons, my recent obsession for the past few months is to get my hands on Bouchon Bakery’s cute, petite Wagyu beef sliders that Ed Levine and Robyn had. A bouchon is a bouchon, not a brownie To state the obvious: the path to finding the perfect brownie is paved in decadence. And while it may not be easy to choose the best of the best in a very delicious field, it’s easy enough to find unexpected delights along the way. Like finding the aforementioned decadence and deliciousness in a different form, and in… a mall. When Bouchon Bakery opened in the Time Warner Center, everyone who worships at the altar of Thomas Keller was thrilled. Keller has received nearly every culinary accolade possible and, for those who can't score a resy at Per Se, or afford the tab, a place to nosh on top-notch...

Oddity at Valentine's, Taralucci e Vino, Blackhound, and Mandoos!
It's been an odd few days. On Valentine's Day, it snowed (kind of ironic?) and I have classes. Why?! It's bad enough that it snowed and rained ice pellets that literally blows in your face since it was so windy. But still, I have to schlep my behind to the city and be in school. Grrr... Sorry...I want to vent. Well, on Valentine's Day during my lunch hour, I walked over to the Time Warner Building and went to Whole Foods for some of their soup and a salad. Lunch and Dessert at the "Bakeries" of Famous Chefs
The "bakeries" I'm referring to are Bouley Bakery (owned by David Bouley; located in TriBeca) and Bouchon Bakery (owned by Thomas Keller, in Columbus Circle). I don't know why I happen to go to these famous chefs' moderately priced establishments, but I did. Lunch was at Bouley Bakery. I ordered a slice of their Tomato & Mushroom Quiche ($4.50), an Eclipse ($5.25), and a Chocolate Cupcake ($1.95). I know what you're thinking; possibly you might be wondering why the heck did I order two desserts? It's just that I want to and since Valentine's Day is tomorrow, I might as well indulge with chocolate desserts. Here's what my order looked

Bouchon Bakery's doughnut wipes the floor with the Doughnut Plant. Seriously. Eggy and moist with a generous squirt of seedless raspberry "jelly" that isn't too sweet, with just a touch of granulated sugar sprinkled over them like fairy dust...I am upset that I never had them before now. I am also upset that they will inevitably contribute to my weight gain because I'll eat them every chance I get. Unfortunately, they're also like $5 each. But as soon as my singing gig is over, I am going for the dairy-filled Boston Cream donut. Evil, evil Thomas Keller. My arteries will follow that pied piper to their triglyceride deaths.

marcel proust had his madeleines, well he can keep ‘em because i much prefer macarons. it is the sweet and chewy almond rich macaron that makes my heart beat faster. it is the macaron that i dream of and crave. the macaron is a french almond cookie which is comprised of two layers of cookie with a filling sandwiched inside, usually a flavored ganache . when i tell someone that i adore macarons, most people think that i’m referring to the american macaroon , that gooey lump of syrupy coconut flakes which is commonly sold and eaten around jewish holidays. the french macaron is a completley different kind of confection, as different as night and day. the taste of a macaroon to a macaron is as wildly different as that of a piece of dry toast to a warm croissant.

The Time Warner Center Bouchon Bakery is not your Yountville Bouchon Bakery. It’s actually more of a cross between Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery, since there are separate bakery and bistro areas (the bistro has some Bouchon dishes, but is a bit more American casual, with many salads and sandwiches). Instead of being nestled into a cute Yountville Street, the restaurant area is perched over Columbus Circle, with this bewitching view. The design is more sleek modern than rural quaint. They also have chocolates for sale, which I don’t remember seeing in Yountville.

Swimster and I broke up a few months ago. It was a really hard time for both of us, but as the saying goes, time does heal everything and I think we're both doing really well on our own. He spent the summer in London working and as a sort of "last supper," or in this case lunch, he took me to Bouchon Bakery to bid me, and us, farewell. I suggested we do lunch because I knew I'd be less tempted to order alcohol, and consequently less likely to get emotional and teary-eyed over food

Bouchon Bakery... Hauté Mall Cusine?
Jun 29, 2006
Not long ago, I made my first trip to the Time Warner Center… excited to experience for myself the spectacular space, shops and restaurants that get the pleasure of calling the glamorous building home. I figured I’d shop a while, eat some high class mall grub, browse the book store and sit on a bench. Mall stuff.

Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery seems to have been teleported into the Time Warner Center from another, less chrome-plated universe, someplace where Columbus Circle looks more like Wysteria Lane than the northern tip of Hell’s Kitchen. The patrons, too, seem to be recruited right out of central casting: there’s the wealthy middle-aged Spanish tourist with his red canvas trousers, the investment banker and her Marc Jacobs ensemble, and of course a few toddlers in super-ergonomic strollers. No surprise then that a seat at either the retail counter (where we ate this past weekend) or in the adjacent café offers a perfect perch for a little (white) people watching. Oh, and the food’s not so shabby either.

It’s in the mall but it has Thomas Keller’s name on it, so how can anyone say no to Bouchon Bakery even though it’s just really a bunch of tables and chairs outside the Samsung store on the third floor of the Time Warner building? Bouchon Bakery is for those who can’t score a table at Per Se on the fourth floor or don’t have the $200 to feed themselves. It also serves lunch to the corporate employees around the area during the day from a take away counter.

I seriously wonder how many people who walk past the newly opened Bouchon Bakery at the Time Warner Center think it's a restaurant owned by Samsung. As you can see in the picture above, a giant Samsung sign hangs over the large and strangely situated seating area. If you arrive on the third floor from the central escalators, you might not immediately connect this free-standing ambiguous restaurant with the bakery stand a tiny distance away. That bakery stand is the stand of The Bouchon Bakery, the civilian-friendly populist enterprise engineered by that titan of the food world, Thomas Keller.

The Dog Really Did Eat My Homework Or The Bouchon Bakery Sticky Buns Are Worth Every Penny
I tucked the last bite of my $2.75 Bouchon Bakery sticky bun into my briefcase, where it was going to stay until I rendered my sticky bun verdict this morning. Last Saturday I went to NYC's Time-Warner Mall and braved the three escalators you ride to get to the newest branch (The first two are in Yountville, Ca. and Las Vegas) of Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bakery. The first thing you are confronted by is a sit-down area with waiter service. The retail bakery with a few stools and tables is down the hall. There I was confronted by display cases filled with impossibly beautiful and elegant pastries, cookies and chocolates, all at French Laaundry prices. I ordered a grilled vegetable sandwich with gruyere on seven-grain bread ($8.25) that the counterperson plucked pre-made out of the case. He asked me if I wanted it pressed. I said yes, and he told me it would take five minutes. I then bought an apple danish ($3.00, I think), a caramel macaroon ($3.00) and a large iced tea ($2.75). I sat down on one of the stools and took a bite of the buttery apple danish. It was too doughy, and the ratio of apples to pastry was all wrong. The caramel macaroon was excellent, chewy, just crunchy enough, and not too sweet. The iced tea was a total rip-off. My glass was mostly ice, and I ran out of tea well before my sandwich was ready, which was in 15 minutes, not five. The sandwich was very fine, though the vegetables kept falling out of the sandwich as I took succeeding bites. I will go back, I won't order the tea, and I would say this early visit was promising if not perfect.

Britt and I met up at the Time Warner mall for coffee (2bucks for a small but with a nifty lid) at the newly opened Bouchon Bakery. We split the almond brioche ($2.95) which is essentially a thick slice of a bread that could almost pass for poundcake it's so dense and lusciously slathered with almond paste and layered with more almonds on top. It was perfect as I'm sure the rest of the baked goods and desserts are. The bakery is owned by Thomas Keller of French Laundry fame, so it's also pricey. A cheaper option is to go to the basement and get stuff at Whole Foods, but then you wouldn't be able to sit above all the riffraff and eat off a silver tray.
