The Italian restaurant Peasant is charming and delightful. Open kitchens are no longer a novelty, but no open kitchen contributes more to a restaurant’s atmosphere as the one at Peasant. The raw, rustic aroma of its wood-burning stoves make you forget you’re in New York City. FULL REVIEW

It’s hard to convince me to try a restaurant dubbed “Best Place to Impress a First Date” but after walking by Peasant one afternoon, I thought of it as the best place to treat my special someone to dinner. The first thing you see as soon as you walk in is fire from the brick pizza oven in the back where they cook all their Italian fare the traditional way. The dark wood gives the restaurant a rustic feel but the aluminum chairs add a touch of modernity. FULL REVIEW

A Peasant's Riches

Business dinners are rarely enjoyable affairs. So, meandering through Nolita towards Peasant the other night with colleagues Craig and Harrison, in route to supper with vendors, I was all prepared to hunker down for an uncomfortable evening of middling Italian food and stilted conversation. The restaurant's forboding, industrial entranceway (pictured above) didn't quell my fears. FULL REVIEW
