Big news hit the Midtown Lunch Inbox this morning, courtesy of Lunch’er Emily who forwarded along this photo, taken on 9th Ave. (btw. 50+51st), of the window of what I believe used to be Keni Pizza. Apparently Hallo Berlin will be adding H.B. Express to their empire, which currently includes a beer garden on 10th Ave. (btw. 44+45th), [...] FULL REVIEW

Hallo Berlin Cart is Still the Best October Lunch…

What would October(fest) be without a trip to the Hallo Berlin Cart… If you haven’t been yet, you’ve got to do it. Best sausage in the city, and watching him operate the cart is quite a sight to behold. My “Dictator’s Special” after the jump… FULL REVIEW

Hallo Berlin Cart… back in business!

For German sausage freaks, July 2006 was a terrible month. Not only did you have to watch your Football (aka Soccer) team lose in the Semi-Finals of the World Cup in their home country- but you had to suffer the indignity of not being able to drown your sorrows in a delicious bratwurst during lunch time. Despite my best efforts, I run into restaurants that do not deserve a full review: they lack interest or my tasting was insufficient. Hallo Berlin falls in both categories. Hallo Berlin is a small restaurant, a step up from fast food, with a pleasant garden in back. FULL REVIEW

Say Hallo to My Little Sausage (Dinner at Hallo Berlin)

Praise be to Robert Sietsema and his guide to Ethnic Eating in New York. It's so small you can fit it easily into a coat pocket, a purse or--in my case--the satchel bag I took with me to meet my friend Mark in front of the Signature Theater Company. Mark just moved here after graduating Yale's prestigious dramaturgy program. Now he's writing theater reviews for Variety and he invited me to see a Fugard play on 42nd street between 10th and 11th. I met him near the theater and found myself responsible for dinner. That's when I pulled out the Sietsema and discovered a German "sausage heaven" only two blocks away. FULL REVIEW
