Decided to try another Curry house on 6th St, hey why not. Again, we miss our curries from (no, not India itself) England. In London Brick Lane is famous for it's long row of curry houses, with everyone standing outside trying to entice people in to their particular restaurants. They keep adding more and more free "extras" to see if you'll bite... I was once out there for a girls dinner with about 9 or 10 girls, and wow was there a bidding war to see which restaurant would get to serve us... we ended up going to the one that offered 5 (yes 5!) free bottles of wine... I have been drinking a lot lately, I would have to say in terms of days of the week, it is definitely akin to what took place in high school. Yes, I started young, but it was a good thing, because I didn’t do the whole drunken college student thing. Well, maybe the first year…. Anyways, the boys and I went out on Friday night. We started out at Brick Lane Curry House,one of the many Indian restaurants along E. 6th. We ordered a bottle of Shiraz and the restaurant recently came up with their own stout, so we all got a sample of that too. FULL REVIEW

When this restaurant opened in 2002, the verdict over at eGullet was: “Spicy food and slow service”. Three years later, Brick Lane Curry House has its act together. My friend and I arrived at 6:20 Saturday night and were out by 7:35, which was sufficient time for us to order drinks, appetizers, and entrées. The restaurant is now on OpenTable, which was what brought it to my attention. FULL REVIEW

Variety is the spice of life, and a variety of spices adds much to one's life! At Brick Lane Curry House, the rust-colored walls are literally painted with spices. The crispy papadums that start the meal are redolent of asafoetida, and rice is fragrant with cloves (and fried onions and parsley). Although I loved my dakshimi (southern) curry, a profusion of peas, potatoes, eggplant, peppers, mushrooms and golden raisins in a rich green coconut sauce, I could have lived on the paneer kulcha. This piping hot, buttery pita bread was stuffed with toasted sesame seeds, parsley and small melted bits of salty cheese. FULL REVIEW
