Ding! It's an almost Pavlovian trigger--the sound of a hot plate of gorgeous waffles or eggs hitting Clinton Street Baking Company's pass-through. Get drooling!

Panackes with wild blueberries and maple butter, a fat and warm biscuit with homemade raspberry jam (not shown), chorizo and a cappuccino close-up. Plunk that sausage in the maple butter and you’re on to something.

I started off on the Lower East Side this time, for breakfast at the Clinton Street Baking Co. They’re known especially for their pancakes and biscuits…

Today I FINALLY made it out to clinton st baking co, which i have been dreaming about for months. Katie and I got there at 9:40 per my sister’s recommendation for getting seated at 10. It worked perfectly! After much much debate (everything on the menu looked appealing), I settled on getting their famous pancakes ($11), even though I almost never get pancakes for brunch. I opted for wild blueberry and they were delicious! The best part was the syrup, which we decided had a nutty, butterscotch, caramel flavor; much more delicious than traditional aunt jemima-flavored syrup. Katie went for the savory farmer’s frittata of summer veggies and goat cheese, along with a side of buttermilk biscuit with raspberry jam. Both were very good, and the frittata came in a cute little cast iron pan. Her latte also looked delicious. Overall, highly recommended brunch spot - I will definitely be returning to try everything else on their menu! The brioche french toast in particular looked delicious on the tables next to us, as well as some of their savory entrees like the soft-shell crab salad (which kind of grossed katie out).

Done with school, Clinton Street Baking Co, and the Nougatine Room
She's right, but...still. These aren't words a daughter wants to hear from her mum after not having seen each other for one and a half months. In that time period between spring break and moving out of my dorm, I guess I had noticeably increased in girth. From all that...eating. Surely you've seen it. I haven't decided whether or not I should care intensely about the damage I'm doing to my body from putting too much into it and thus exercise some moderation (because I wouldn't exercise anything else, hoohaa!), or if I should just continue my fooding spree until I explode...or can't fit into any of my clothing. If the first one happens, the second would have to also. (And in between the two, death would occur, which would be problematic.)

I'm at the final stage of the project and it's hellish busy. I've been staying late every night and suffered bad delivery food for the entire week (plus weekends). Miraclously Saturday night was an early night and I got recommendation of this cafe Clinton St. Baking Company from Donny.

I decided to take the 1:30 train from Ridgewood to NYC, figuring I would get there at around 2:30. Either the train schedule semi-lied to me or I missed something because I had to wait about 10 minutes in Secaucus for the next train to Penn Station, which literally puttered along the track until rolling into NYC. Rolling. Methinks trains in the US are technologically behind the trains in Europe and Asia.
