The best sandwich in Carroll Gardens

There’s something comforting about a lunchtime visit to old school Carroll Gardens – where even the over-sausaged old men wear gold chains, ceramic Madonnas reside in nearly every yard and you can score some of the best meat and bread products in Brooklyn. And since I’m working from home for all of December, I made a pact with myself to take advantage of what my neighborhood has in the way of lunch. In other words, eat as many authentic Italian sandwiches as I can before I’m relegated back to the cookie-cutter delis and overly-buttered, perfectly semi-circular premade pile-of-shit “paninis” that have taken over Manhattan in the last few years.
