Superthin slices of eggplant, plus peppers and provolone, are at the heart of the Valentina ($7.95 for a half, but it's nearly a footlong "half"). As much as I like to pretend to act like one, I am no working class hero. True, I’ve done a number of blue collar jobs. But that hardly makes me a member of the proletariat. My mom was a teacher and is now a counselor. My dad was a professor, then a high level government official, and is now a lobbyist. And they paid for my undergraduate degree at NYU. No matter how long I drive a cab, I’ll never really be working class. FULL REVIEW

You know, I’ve eaten a fair number of sandwiches in my life, in every shape and size imaginable. I’ve never, not even in my late hero-eating binge, seen a sandwich the size of Defonte’s “Nicky’s Special.” It is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the sandwich world. I should have had the affable owner weigh the damn thing, in retrospect. FULL REVIEW
