There really aren't any burger joints in our neighborhood so we're glad that Stand Stand opened up. It's a big plus when you actually get a medium rare burger when you order one. The ingredients are fresh and everything is made to order. So yes, I like the piping hot fries. They're nice and crispy and well salted. By the way, the small order is plenty for two people. I couldn't really taste the cheddar in my cheeseburger but I do like the shredded lettuce and onions they top the their burgers with. Plus, they use good buns. Stand also does a good job with options for diners who don't want burgers: turkey burgers, chicken burger, salmon...

When I think about the hamburger renaissance taking place in New York at the moment I get emotionally crumpled. On the one hand I want to send up a little smile of thanks to the Fates for bringing me back home at the exact moment my favorite kind [...]

Have you ever had a truly forgettable meal? A meal that makes you scratch your head when someone asks, "Have you eaten at X?" Well that's how I feel about the meal I had a few weeks ago at Stand,...

When did New York become so burger-crazed? Not that I'm complaining - I think the burgers + fries + shake combination is one of the best things ever. There's Burger Joint (my favorite thus far but primarily because of the awesomeness of having a dingy greasy burger place hidden in the lobby of a prim and proper hotel in the heart of Midtown), Shake Shack (re-opening 3/21 much to the joy of fans everywhere), Corner Bistro (tried going last friday night but the lines were too long), brgr (burgers 2.0 style anyone?) and too many others to list. I think that Stand is going to become my go-to place for a nice, civilized burger and fries...

Counter Seating Stand Burger opened back in December 2006, around the same time other burger joints started conveniently (and strategically?) spawning during the Shake Shack seasonal shutdown. Because so many of them opened all at once - and more than...

I like hamburgers. I mean, who doesn’t, right? Now, I’m not gonna write a blog about ‘em , but I think they’re swell. First, they taste good. But more than that, there’s something very comforting about them that makes you feel young and silly and happy. I like that they are a food you have to eat with your hands. I like that they get you messy. And I like that they are a food that most probably will cause you to smile at some point during the course your meal.

For the past two days in New York City, it felt like the Arctic. Not like it's unusual of New York to be this cold but I just don't like to walk or get out of bed in this type of weather. Unfortunately, life doesn't work that way for me since I have classes. Pooh. At least classes start late for me today so I indulge myself into a bit of sinful, comfort foods. I should note that I'm not supposed to eat these items just because I have to go "on a diet." I put those words in quotes just because it's only dieting for vanity, not really health reasons. (Even though sometimes I wonder I should watch what I eat since my blood sugar levels are...

Here's some stiff competition for Better Burger NYC! Stand, a trans-fat-free burger joint which recently opened on East 12th Street, serves up juicy 7-ouncers (try the decadent bacon & egg cheeseburger), Atlantic sea-salt sprinkled hand-cut fries, fresh blackberry soda, and ricotta-pistachio milkshakes. Top it all off with a melted brownie and bowl of Il Laboratorio Del Gelato sorbet.
