abraço's piccolo milch At approximately 5:58pm Sunday evening, I was walking up 1st Avenue. Past 3rd street, 4th street (hang a left here and you'll be at the front door of Pinisi), past 5th, 6th, and finally 7th. At 7th, I turned in the direction of 2nd Avenue. I was to meet Kevin at abraço. The message was, "6pm, abraço, tiny coffee stand." Of all the people I've met and dined with in the past, Kevin must be the most intriguing. At 6pm I paused near the entrance of abraço and looked though the glass window. There was Kevin, leaning ever so casually again the counter, warm mug of latte in hand, chatting with the charming and bubbly... FULL REVIEW

Last week I went back to Café Kashkar, armed with a group of friends with serious B-train-induced starvation. As is our wont, we ate until we could not eat any more. I didn’t have time to write this up before gallivanting off to California for the weekend, but Robyn fortunately was there to document it – her review more or less jibes with the one I would have written (the VERY DISAPPOINTING lamb ribs, especially – totally different than last time), and I’m additionally impressed that she wasn’t terrified by my friends. Man-Voltron, indeed. Also, her pictures ROCK. Especially the one of my roommate – that cat is crazy. FULL REVIEW

Chinese-ish food: Cafe Kashkar and Dim Sum Dynasty

No it's not. Cafe Kashkar is located at the edge of Brooklyn by Brighton Beach. I had never traveled that far to the right of a subway map before, although I did once go pretty damn far on the B train only to realize after a very long time that I was supposed to take the D train. Bee, dee...my brain just can't handle the complexity of that kind of similarity in pronounciation. Since I wasn't too bright I backtracked, waaay back, instead of going forth on the Q and changing in Coney Island. The result of the journey was the intense desire to never return to Brooklyn.
