Bondi Road

Fashionista's birthday was back in May and planning started in mid-April. I know, it's September, but the yummy seafood pictures got lost in my iPhoto and after their rediscovery, I couldn't just let them or our feast slip away unnoticed. Thanks to her friend Miss Q's recommendation, we kicked off the week of celebrations with a dinner at Bondi Road. That's how we do it here in New York. Birthdays become birthWEEKS. There's a night for an intimate dinner with your closest confidantes, there's a night for a crazy dinner with a large posse of friends and friends of friends; there's a night for a happy hour with co-workers, there's a night... My Dinner At Bondi Road

I learned recently that there are 16,000 Australians living in New York City. It is my guess that all 16,000 of them, at some point, will eat at Bondi Road, a restaurant created in the image of one of their homeland’s most coveted surf spots. I imagine once they try it out, they will come back. Let’s hope not all at the same time. Because then there will be no room for the rest of us. And that would be a dreadful thing. FULL REVIEW

The Lower East Side continues to amaze me. New places daily. Some good, some not so good. Mostly young hipsters. Sort of like the East Village around 1985. FULL REVIEW

Bondi Road

Bondi Road has curiously washed ashore in the Lower East Side, bringing this famed Australian surf beach and its supreme fish to American waters. Though the giant movie screen with a rolling surfer video & wallpaper fashioned from photo beach images seem theatrically staged for such a no frills fish-and-chips joint, Bondi's fresh-off-the-plane seafood & Aussie staff are the real deal FULL REVIEW
