Chickpea has a sandwich whichi is 1/2 falafel and 1/2 shwarma. Its nice because you get the best of both worlds. Its a little bit pricey but very satisfying. They seem to have perfected the pita as well. Nothing seems to fall out, unlike most places.
Chickpea is more expensive than your average falafel & shawarma joint. Some of their products are worth it and some aren't. Here's what you should and shouldn't get:
Order:
Falafels - Different people prefer different sized falafel balls. These are the smaller ones and very fried but well flavored and seasoned.
Pitas -They make their own. Super fresh!
Sauces - The tahina sauce and hot

[sniff sniff] "This whole place smells like...pork." Neither Tina, Julie nor I should've been surprised that Momofuku Ssam Bar would smell like its most well-loved ingredient. When you enter a bakery you're not alarmed by the scent of the airborne...

I'm referring to my "diet." It seems that I fall into the trap of eating bad every Tuesday or Thursday, just because I have time before classes that I just wander around and end up finding something to eat that isn't good for me. Oh...whatever. I'm not going to try that hard for the sake of beauty or vanity. It's just not worth it. As long as I'm not gaining anything, that's fine with me. For mid-morning snack, I went down to TriBeca to Tribeca Treats for their cupcakes since I heard about them recently from the press and I remembered their booth back in the Chocolate Show the past November. I don't know what really drove me to go down...

Tuesday evening and Mr. Munchies and I are sitting in a very Moroccan-looking lounge in the back of Chickpea. Munchies has a big chunk of falafel stuck on his face and I’m watching 8-Mile on a wall-mounted television. The TV is on mute so I’m not really getting much out of it, but I’m not actually sure I got anything out of it when I watched it with sound either. The place is packed as usual. Are people just fascinated by the idea of ordering something called Chickplant? Or is it the Shawafel, another equally clever hybrid of names consisting of half shawarma and half falafel?

A hip little falafel joint on the edge of St. Mark's. Now, I don't know all that much about falafel, but I *do* know this stuff was tasty! Better than the other falafel I've had (at Cinderella Falafel)...and a nice change for days when you just don't want any daifuku...

In the East Village is Chickpea, a falafel joint that I'd been to once before and went to the other day with my classmates Molly and Patty. It was perfect. By perfect, I mean: it really hit the spot. See, Patty said she was "really sick of diner food." That's because my classmates and I always go to diners. And Patty was sick of them.
