8th Ave., just below Port Authority has claimed another of my favorite Midtown Lunches. First it was Ressie May’s Soul Food to Go back in June, now Mandler’s Sausage Co. I passed by today, and confirmed that the Mandler’s Midtown Location is in fact closed and the phone has been disconnected. Hopefully the Golden Krust opening soon [...] FULL REVIEW

You expect great things from a place that has a sandwich called “sausage heaven,” even if it’s insecure enough to trumpet the length of its staple specialties on its menu (WTF?). But, is Mandler’s, on 17th near Broadway, really great as great as it thinks, or just the most obvious choice in a category of questionable depth? FULL REVIEW

Mandlers Sausage Hot Dog Restaurant New York

In New York, hot dogs are pretty much iconic foods along with bagels, fried chicken, and pizza. But it wasn’t until Mandler’s opened down by Union Square that the classic New York hot dog was elevated into a gourmet item. (think soup nazi to soup). Mandler’s specializes in great home made sausages served gourmet style with a dozen types of toppings, a half dozen types of sauces and mustards, and 4 different types of hot dog buns. Today Sing and I tried it on a multi grain bun with mushrooms and onion toppings and a potato cake with applesauce and fries on the side. FULL REVIEW
