Beard Papa's makes the best cream puffs, and their current flavor of the week is tiramisu. Since I love their cream puffs and tiramisu is my absolute favorite dessert, I have been indulging in these cream puffs since Sunday. A light, fluffy pastry full of cream with flavors of espresso, mascarpone cheese, and cocoa. Just heavenly. Too bad it's only the flavor of the week...I'll be very sad at the end of this week. But hopefully they'll keep bringing it back!

Okay, Short Exact has no problem admitting it: we are more than just fashionably late to the Beard Papa party. Although Beard Papa opened in San Francisco (right near the Yerba Buena Gardens and the Metreon) just this past May, it seems that everyone in the Bay Area has already sampled their famous cream puffs, which have been all the rage all across the world, including Los Angeles, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and Korea.

The Beard Papa mascot looks more like he should be fronting for frozen fish sticks than Japanese cream puffs, but I guess he knows what he’s doing since there are lines out the door when people dash out for a lunch time or after work pastry.

OMG -- amazingly delicious cream puffs! No. 1 in my book! Especially with those ever tasting vanilla beans in there. Delicious! I gotta get me some of that action again! :)

With so much press about Beard Papa opening up in San Francisco, the jatbar folks had to trek up north and investigate. Hearing stories about lines wrapping around the building and tales of fresh doughy goodies from the oven leaving you speechless. With high expectations, we had our work set out for us to give a normal person's honest review.

Sam of Becks and Posh was already here on opening day to experience the San Francisco incarnation of this Japanese cream puff phenomenon. While she experienced 30-minute waits, on Sunday afternoon when I dropped by, there were no crowds - the dividers were still there, but sitting unused off the side. We were able to stroll right inside and take a look around. I guess all the sweets freaks had already come and gone?

I had some business I had to take care of up in San Francisco yesterday, so I decided to test out the public transit system. Now, I'm from the Midwest where public transportation is laughable (with the exception of Chicago) at best. My day was filled with some successes and some huge failures. I missed my train into the city because I couldn't find parking, so I had to catch the next train. Once I arrived, it went pretty smoothly and I made it to my destination. I was pleased with my navigation efforts, so when I was finished I decided to reward myself. I headed downtown to 99 Yerba Buena Lane and walked into the brand spanking new Beard Papa's shop.

The opening of Beard Papa's in San Francisco has been much hyped. How else can you explain a 30+ minute line at the opening time of 10.00am in the morning on a Saturday? A very slow wait for some sweet fast food ensued. At one point I had to even rush and move my car to a different meter! Luckily Del was with me to keep a spot in the queue and snap some cool pictures for me whilst I was manoevering our chariot.
