When I say Burma, you say Superstar.
Burma (Superstar!) Burma (Superstar!)
First off, you have to love the name. It puts you in a good mood before you even crack the menu.
Then, there’s the issue of choice: Their vegetarian selection makes me downright giddy.
Finally, the food. It throws your mouth for a wonderful loop. Is that India [...]

In San Francisco for Maria's birthday, I wanted to find some place unique, with great food but still Evan-friendly. I hit Chowhound's San Francisco's boards, typed in "dinner" and "kid-friendly," and out popped Burma Superstar. I checked out their website, and was immediately sold. Funny enough, Maria was doing her own research -- and also came across Burma Superstar! What they stipulated: No reservations taken -- so you may be waiting. Luckily, the Clement St. district of varied Asian...

Brett had Bay Area bloggers buzzing. "Where is he taking you?" they asked when I told him about our e-mail exchange. The exchange went like this: Me: I want to meet you! Brett: Great! Let's meet for lunch Thursday. Me:...

Burma Super Star is a seemingly unassuming little eatery located on an active stretch of Clement Street, but unlike the scores of neighboring Asian eateries on Clement, Burma Super Star also ranks among some of the most hyped restaurants in San Francisco.

I'm not sure what the hype is all about at this Burmese location. I went there for lunch and I ordered all their noodle dishes. I tried all of them and I wasn't impressed with any of their dishes. I thought their samoas was undercook and bland. I think the only dish I enjoyed was this dish with egg noodles and duck. I wasn't crazy about the dipping sauce that is on the plate.

The Cherry Blossom Festival was a bust, but we didn't let it ruin our day. R's good friends CI and C are in the process of moving to the Bay area. They spent the day apartment shopping, so the plan was to meet up with them at Burma Superstar for dinner. This restaurant has been on A's wish list for some time now. Burma Superstar is a small restaurant in the Richmond district and the word on the street is that it's always packed. Before we went, Mr. Cupcake called and put us on the waiting list (they don't take reservations). We had about an hour to get there.

We had read about Burma Superstar and wanted to try it. But, as it turned out, it wasn't really worth the hype. Long lines, no reservations accepted, and mediocre food. It was decent, but the portions were not worth the price.

My friend L. is the culinary Henry Higgins to my Eliza Doolittle. Over the years she’s introduced me to new foods, starting in college with salmon and risotto, and trained my palate to appreciate more sophisticated tastes as we’ve grown older and (we hope) more worldly.

Last week, SFist and its international possy of culinary investigators headed off to Clement Street in search of somewhere to eat beginning with the letter B. Intrigued by the promise of food from a country neither of the three Brits, the Texan Princess or Le Monsieur F had ever visited nor were likely to visit any time in the near future, Burma Superstar was democratically elected as the place to taste and experience some Burmese cuisine
