As a philly native, I spent quite a bit of time trying to find a good cheese steak in San Francisco. It ended up being a arduous task that was only satiated by the discovery of the Cheese Steak Shop. These guys are serious about recreating the Philadelphia experience, up to importing the all important Amoroso roll from Philly. I usually have to order extra meat to fully recreate the gluttoness goodness of your standard Philly cheesesteak. FULL REVIEW

Philly Cheese Steak Shop

One of our old high school stomping grounds was the Philly Cheese Steak Shop on Divisadero. They have a bright yellow canopy and sign that's hard to miss. Back in high school, we went through tons of their frequent eater cards which reward you with a free sandwich after 10 stamps. Tuesdays were double stamp days, so you'd get 2 for every $5 spent.
