Though I think that there is at least 1 too many "U"s in the name, and I'm not sure that an eatery whose name means "brown" is a good idea, Coiuleur Café turned out to be a good place to eat it and beat it before a movie.

Couleur Café was hoppin' during lunch but I got the last open table and there was not much of a wait for my Crepe Complete ($9.00): A warm buckwheat pancake folded around thin slices of ham with melted Gruyere and was capped with a fried, sunnyside up egg served with a mesclun side salad. Perfectly tasty, but not something I would go out of my way to reorder.

Where to Watch World Cup Football in San Francisco?
It's not the manner in which I am accustomed to watching Eng-er-land play world cup football. A cramped pub, full of excited fans, decked out in the team's colours of red and white, lots of beer, cheering and chanting is what I am more used to.

Scene: Tuesday night, 7pm. Your sh*t is hungry. Work sucked. Your frig only has olives and ketchup and, like, one egg. (One egg, so annoying.) You’ve had enough of the Chinese-Thai-Indian tribunal with their meals and deals on the pastel pieces of paper piled up in your kitchen drawer. You don’t want to spend a lot of dough. And dag, parking is such an ordeal in this town, there are some nights you’re just not up for the battle.

Finally made it to Couleur Café for lunch. I got the Mediterranean Salad ($9.00): which turned out to be a little sampler plate with a thick hummus, roasted eggplant spread, tzatziki, roasted peppers and pita wedges. The tricky thing about this dish is that all the ingredients are held in the fridge (for obvious reasons) and had a chill that dulled their flavors and textures (you know that slightly gelatinous mouthfeel you get from roasted peppers and are sliced and chilled? Not good.) This dish could be livened up with a some good feta, but I wouldn’t order this one again.
