We decided to have a quick dinner at our favorite French bistro, Fringale. We both opted for the steak tonight, which has always proved delicious and did not disappoint tonight either. Ribeye with Red Wine Butter and Frites $24 Tender, tasty, juicy, falvorful meat. The red wine butter has just the right amount of acidity and is beautiful as well. The fried were crispy, and we ate more of them than we should have. Sezchuan Pepper Mayo For dipping the fried in. This was not very spicy and a bit too watery. Homemade Mayo One of the things we love about Fringale is dipping our fries in this lemony, smooth, house-made mayo.

Dinner at Fringale last night was an inspiration—but not in the way you might think. It’s inspiring me to figure out a new restaurant review rating system. Why? Because the restaurant itself is fantastic. It’s just the lack of vegetarian options that sucks.

After being inspired by Elmo Monster's dining adventure during last year's San Pellegrino Prix Fixe season, I decided to follow suit, and try out the San Pellegrino way of dining out. Of the dining choices, I selected Fringale, a cozy and warm, yet elegant French-Basque restaurant within walking distance of AT&T Ballpark.

Fringale is our favorite French bistro in San Francisco, and as far as flavor goes, it never fails. Service is generally very good as well. This time we had to remind our waiter that we had ordered wine, but he generously gave us each a glass on the house while we finished our appetizers and he went to fetch the bottle that we had ordered.

We took advantage of "Dine About Town" again and went to one of our favorite French places, Fringale. Although the quality of the food never falters, we both felt that this time was actually better than times before. Not sure why. In any case, Fringale proved itself again to be a standout, serving classic and unfussy French food in an intimate yet relaxed atmosphere. I also like that their entire waitstaff is French.

Pommes frites - J and I were surprised to see these two words printed on the dinner menu at Fringale. French fries are a side order typically relegated to fast food status or as an accompaniment to steakhouse fare. What was it doing here? Granted, pommes frites were French french fries, but butternut squash fries with chive mayo seemed more likely to make an appearance on this menu. On a whim, we ordered them as appetizer.
