Steak House Sublime Apparently Houston's don't take reservations but I had them anyway when two friends dragged us there the other night. "You want to take us to a chain steak restaurant on The Embarcadero, close to Fisherman's Wharf that I've never even heard of", I thought, "Oh goody". As it turned out, everything about the night was just about perfect: The smiling, joking, hostess who showed us to our spot. The comfy, deep red booth we were seated in near the center of the restaurant. The fantastic decor built from solid, well-aged materials, cool 70s vibe reminiscent of a super-stylish ski-lodge you might find featured in Wallpaper... FULL REVIEW

The word “chain” is best when applied to daisies. Letters, gangs and restaurants tend to wilt in this category. Houston’s can be found in major metropolitan areas. It’s one of a series of meat and cocktail driven eateries that target the downtown quittin’ time crowd. FULL REVIEW

One of my first meals in SF was with my mom and Uncle Calvin at nearby Houston's, which serves pretty good standard American fare. I really liked the crab cakes I had there last time, and my mom was happy with their varying vegetarian plate. I didn't realize it was such a big chain until just now when I checked out their website, but despite the numerous locations Houston's seems pretty reliable. At least the one near the Embarcadero - haven't tried (or seen, for that matter) any of the others. FULL REVIEW
