To celebrate the anniversary of seeuseat.com we wanted to go out for a nice meal. Unfortunately, the first place we tried was closed for labor day. We settled on Isa, a place that Giao has been once before long ago, and Alexis had never been. It was a decent meal with fine service, but overall there were no standouts other than their reasonably priced wine list.

Isa restaurant, located in the Marina district, was my selection for Check, Please! Bay Area. The food is French with an Asian influence and served as small plates which are meant to be shared family style.

Much as I complain about the Chronicle's Top 100 Restaurant list, I can't help but want to try every restaurant on the list, just to be sure. The Chronicle has been raving about Isa for years and chef Luke Sung was twice nominated as a rising star chef by the James Beard Foundation. So it's always been in the back of my mind to try it. A few weeks back dining out with Lee and my folks, we decided to give it a whirl.
