Giao went to Kokkari for lunch, a place we haven't been to since our office was right next to it. Grilled Lamb Riblets $9.25 Tender, gamey in a good way, and flavored with oregano. Fried Smelts with Garlic Aioli $7.50 Mmm. There's not a whole lot better than fried fish that resemble french fried in shape and are just as easy to eat.

The girls at work and I share a weekly lunch together, and it is a time where we sample the restaurants in San Francisco's Financial District and its vicinity. This past week, we splurged at a pricier restaurant, and enjoyed a leisurely two-hour lunch at the famed Kokkari Estiatorio.

So, for those of you who celebrate it, Easter has passed. (Thank you Easter bunny, bwok bwok!) Perhaps you had your lamb, or your ham, or if you're really hardcore, you had some baby goat (that would be my family). But I'm here to tell you: you're not done with your springtime lamb just yet. Not until you have gotten your heinie over to ~KOKKARI~ for their milk-fed lamb off the rotisserie, which comes with little cracklings of skin tucked into a baa-worthy pile of meat. Even if lamb doesn't really turn your crank, this dish is a must-try. It'll change how you feel about lamb, i.e. make the rest of what's out there less fabulous.

Yesterday, SwatchMan (yep, he gets his own alias) came to California to visit us from Kentucky. He's never been here before, so we're going to show him a good time. Mr. Cupcake's sister is coming on Friday, so our place will be uncharacteristically full.

When thinking of the Bay Area’s best Greek restaurant, no other name can come to mind but Kokkari (and its sister restaurant Evvia, in Palo Alto). This Jackson Square landmark serves up delicious, generally well-prepared dishes in a lovely setting, and it sets the standard that other similar restaurants must try to meet.

Kokkari is an upscale Greek restaurant next door to our office. Today we catered in… Halibut with artichokes and olives $20 This was actually very good. The texture was perfect. It was strangely only browned on both sides.

This place serves up some fierce food. Seriously. We've wandered all over Greece and the folks at K meld traditional Greek fare with a cool, sophisticated Cali feel that competes with some of the best in Greece...and the hot hostesses (as of the date of this post) don't hurt the appeal either;)

Updating now from Beijing. The weather is surprisingly good... not too hot. Anyway, here's a meal from SF at Kokkari Estiatorio, a Greek restaurant. I went with my mom, Winston and Roger, Auntie Raphaela and Uncle Terence, Auntie Cathy, and Auntie Margie. Thanks for taking me!
