Naan ‘n Curry is a chain of several BYOB joints in San Francisco and Berkeley, well-loved by Bay Area citizens on both sides of the bay for its giant naan and filling curries, all offered at great bargain prices — many dishes are just a few dollars, and a huge circle of naan is only $1.00. The protocol is very casual: order and pay at the counter, and sit at the numbered tables to wait until the food is brought out.

Good lord! What was I thinking? Alright, I wanted to check out MATEO's ZOZOVILLE show at Canvas Gallery. I felt like Indian food but to have left with bad Indian food taste on your tongue is REALLY bad.

Something I love about the Bay Area is the abundance of good, cheap eats. I do love a tasting menu, but sometimes (or often) you just get a calling for cheap, hearty Indian food. One of my favorite joints is Naan 'n Curry. Just as there is a rivalry between Marina Subs and Subs, there is one between Shalimar and N'nC. I guess I shall enter the fray by choosing the latter.

News Just In the rumour, sadly, is that Naan & Curry wil be closing at this location (considered their best) in mid-January, 2005. The good news is - they are opening a new branch a few blocks away. I spotted an "opening soon" sign the other day. More details when I have them.
