Dinner at Plumpjack Cafe, San Francisco, CA

We headed to Plumpjack for a second time, this time with our friend L and his brother, whom we'd never met. Plumpjack was great once again. The food was wonderful, and service was friendly and on point. A great experience all around. We apologize in advance for the fairly vague descriptions below. We'd had a couple of drinks by the time we made it to dinner and forgot to take tasting notes. Most of what we remember is that all of the food was really, really good. Amuse Buche (gratuit) We don't exactly remember what this was, but we do remember that it was very tasty. Foie Gras $14 A thin slice served on an upended brioche... FULL REVIEW

Dinner at Plumpjack Cafe

Plumpjack Cafe has been on our list of restaurants to try since they got their new chef, James Syhabout, a 27 year old who has worked at Coi (our favorite restaurant so far this year) and El Bulli (where we've been trying to get a reservation for 2 years). The food was very good, although the service was spotty. FULL REVIEW

Your parents are in town (or even better, your in-laws!), and you need a nice place to take them where they won't complain about the noise, the food has to be spot-on (would I send you to a crappy place? Never!), the menu has to have something for everyone and be representative of our fair city, and an impressive wine list would be a bonus. You don't want your server to have an eyebrow piercing or tattoos on their knuckles that say "DON'T MESS." No vertical food, foams, or experimental fusion. One sure bet in the dining safety zone is ~PLUMPJACK CAFE~ in the Marina. FULL REVIEW
