Taqueria Los Coyotes

You can visit every taqueria in San Francisco and still not park yourself on lower dining stools than the ones at Taq. Los Coyotes’ original location. This Crocker-Amazon shop also has the local market cornered on available variety meats (cabeza, tripitas, lengua, suadero, moronga, and naturally, sesos all appear on the overhead menu), as well as folk art interpretations of both the Last Supper and moon-howling coyotes. There’s also fútbol on the big TV. All told, it's a fun rooom. Breakfast available. FULL REVIEW

Taq. Los Coyotes extended operations uptown from their original Crocker-Amazon offering by moving into this former El Pollo Supremo shop in late 2004. It’s a sizable room, shiny and clean. And sesos is on the menu. Beware of well-meaning, yet sloth-like service, however. FULL REVIEW

Taqueria Los Coyotes sits smack-dab in the heroin-infested crack heaven that is the intersection of 16th and Mission. It's not the first place you'd look for a burrito in the area, which is dotted with titans of the San Francisco taqueria scene. Coyotes is a little too bright and a little too clean; a flat-screen television shows soccer highlights, and the only concession to the grittiness of the neighborhood is the sign on the restroom noting "No bathing, no drug use."
